Serbia: Commemorative Cross for Meritorious 
Service in the 1st and the 2nd Balkan Wars.
1st Balkan War (1912-1913): The Allied Armies 
of Greece, Serbia Bulgaria and Montenegro 
fought and won against the Ottoman Empire.
2nd Balkan War (1913): The Allied Armies of 
Greece, Serbia and Montenegro repulsed the 
attack of their former ally Bulgaria, launched 
a counter-attack and invaded Bulgaria. 
Romania and the Ottoman Empire took 
advantage of the situation and attacked 
Bulgaria as well. Bulgaria lost the war and 
following the Treaties of Bucharest and 
Constantinople, it had to cede portions of its 
1st Balkan War gains to Serbia, Greece, 
Romania and the Ottoman Empire.
The medal was established in 1913. 
It was awarded to both civilian and military 
personnel.
