Serbia: Medal for Zealous Service, silver class
(2nd class), for Officers of Non-Combat Units.
Small type 31mm.
The medal was established in 1913 to reward
zealous services to the Serbian Armed Forces
during the 2 Balkan Wars (1912 - 1913) that had
just been ended.
It was awarded to both civilian and military
personnel.
Designed by the sculptor Dorđe Jovanovic
(1861-1953) the medal was initially produced
by Arthus Bertrand (Paris, France) and Huguenin
Freres (Le Locle, Switzerland) and later in
Yugoslavia by Fran Sorlini, Griesbach & Knaus
and Kovnica PLC and in Austria.
It remained in use during throughout and after
WW1.
