The Society was established in 1921. Its main 
goal is the promotion of the prestige of the 
National Order of the Legion of Honor as well 
as the promotion of the values and culture of 
France in both the interior of the country and 
abroad.
The National Order of the Legion of Honor 
was established by Napoleon Bonaparte in 
1802. 
Eligible for the award were both French and 
foreign citizens for outstanding civil or 
military services to France.
The Order of Honor represents the highest 
national decoration of France.
