South Africa: WW2 Medal for War Services, 1939-
1945.
Unnamed as issued.
The Medal for War Services was instituted in 1946.
It was awarded for at least 2 years of voluntary
unpaid service between 6 Sep. 1939 and 15 Feb.
1946 in organizations, such as the South African
Red Cross or the Governor-General's War Fund.
Only about 17500 medals were awarded, due to
the fact that neither the members of the Armed
Forces nor the recipients of the Africa Service
Medal could qualify for the award.
The medal is rare.
