NAZI Germany: NSFK Badge for Motor Powered
Aircraft Pilots.
This is the 2nd type of the badge, marked Ges.
Gesch. 22639 on the reverse.
In silvered tombak (non ferrous metal alloy).
The badge was instituted in May 1939 by General
Friedrich Christiansen, Commander of the NSFK
(and later Aviator General of the Luftwaffe and
Commander of the Wehrmacht in the Netherlands)
in order to replace the previous cloth badge that
was in use since Jul. 1938.
The NSFK (National Socialist Flyers Corps) was
instituted in 1937, as a paramilitary organization
of the Nazi Party focused on conducting military
aviation training in gliders and private airplanes.
The badge is very rare.
