1905. 
The Russo-Japanese War of 1904-05 erupted due 
to the conflicted interests of the 2 Empires, mainly 
over Korea and Manchuria.
The War ended with decisive Japanese Victory, 
following the major Russian defeats in the battles 
of Port Arthur, Yalu River and Yellow Sea.
The Medal was established in 1906 and was 
awarded to the participating troops of the Imperial
Japanese Army and Navy in commemoration of
the victory over Russia.
