ITALY: WW2 Silver commemorative propaganda medal of the 5th 
Division of the Blackshirt Militia (CCNN or MVSN) "1 Febbraio" 
(1st February), for the campaign in Ethiopia. 
Marked 800 for silver purity and signed FML (for Lorrioli).
With the portrait of Mussolini circumscribed by the motto: "Col cuore 
e col ferro alla meta" ("With the heart and with the iron to the goal") 
The medal was issued in 1936. 
The 5th Blackshirts Division "1 February" was formed in 1935 and 
was placed under the command of Lt General Attilio Teruzzi. 
The Division was consisted of 3 Legions (Brigades): 107th Legion 
"Cairoli", 128th Legion "Randaccio" and 142th Legion "Berica".
The name "1 Febbraio" refers to the founding of the MVSN, on 
1 Feb. 1923.
The silver examples of this medal are scarce and even the silvered 
bronze examples are rarely found in the market.
