Italy: WW2 Commemorative Medal of the 3rd
Regiment of the Sardinian Grenadiers of the
Italian Royal Army, for the War against Greece
(28 Oct. 1940 - 3 May 1941).
On the reverse: The battles the Regiment took
part in during the Campaign.
The medal is maker marked by Boeri, Roma.
The 3rd Regiment of the Sardinian Grenadiers
arrived in Albania in 1939 where it was renamed
to "3rd Grenadiers Regiment of Sardinia and
Albania".
It participated in the campaign against Greece
and after some minor initial advance it was
pushed back deep into Albania, by the Greek
Royal Army, together with the rest of the Italian
units.
Despite this fact, it was one of the best Italian
Regiments in the Campaign and it was awarded
the Gold Medal for Bravery by Mussolini.
A scarce medal.
