ITALY: WW2 Commemorative Medal of the
Bersaglieri Battalion "Sabauda", for the War of
Ehiopia (1935 - 1936).
The medal was struck in 1936 by Picchiani &
Barlacci of Firenze (Florence) and is designed
(and signed) by Vichi.
On the obverse: A Bersaglieri Soldier assaulting.
Also the battles the Regiment took part in (Mai
Ceu, Amba Piatta, Addis Abeba, Rufa) during
the 2nd Italo-Ethiopian War.
The Bersaglieri (Marksmen) Regiments were Light
Infantry, high mobility units, equivalent to the
"Hunter" and "Rifle" units of the other European
armies.
A rare medal.
