Italy: WW1 Commemorative medal of the Italian
Battleship RN Emanuele Filiberto.
With the personal motto of Emanuele Filiberto:
"Conduntur non Contunduntur" (To Unite, Not to
Destroy).
Dated 1906 (year of the major fleet maneuvers
under the command of Vice Admiral Alfonso di
Brochetti in the Ionian Sea).
Signed SJ (Stefano Johnson).
RN Emanuele Filiberto was one of the two
pre-dreadnought battleships of the Ammiraglio di
Saint Bon class built for the Italian Navy in the
1890s.
She was launched in Sep. 1897 but was only
completed in Apr. 1902.
RN Emanuele Filiberto participated in the Italo-
Turkish War of 1911–1912 and saw action during
the campaigns in North Africa, Rhodes and the
Dodecanese. She served during WW1 but she
saw no combat action.
The ship was decommissioned and broken up for
scrap in 1920.
A scarce medal.
