ITALY: Set of 5 WW1 Medals awarded to a
Soldier of the Italian Royal Army.
With the respective diploma, numbered
(#293084) on the top and dated 1931.
The diploma is also stamped with the
"authorization" for the award of the Victory
Interallied Medal - the wording of the stamp
has faded out, due to the time passed, but
the circular stamp and the number of the
award (#277168) are still visible.
In addition, the diploma bears the colored
stamp of the Medal for the Unification of
Italy 1848-1918 (lower left corner) and the
stamp of the Italian National Association of
the Families of the Victims (lower right
corner). Hence, most likely the Captain was
severely wounded/maimed which justifies the
award of the Cross of War Merit.
The medals are from left to right as follows:
- WW1 Cross of War Merit.
- Commemorative Medal for the Unification of
Italy, 1848-1918, by Nelli, Rivalta, CBC.
- Italian WW1 Victory Interallied Medal, Laslo
Official Type 2 by Johnson.
- Commemorative Medal for the
Unification of Italy (1915-1918, Campaign
against Austria)by Sacchini.

1st Army.
