WW1 Charlotte Cross, 1916.
In its original box of issue, with the stamp of
the Royal Mint of Stuttgart on the interior of
the lid.
The Cross was instituted by King Wilhelm II, in
1916, in honour of Queen Charlotte (born
Princess of Schaumburg-Lippe).
It was awarded for humanitarian services to
the sick and the wounded, both at the front
and at the rear.
The Cross is the equivalent of the Red Cross
decoration for Wurttemberg.
