Product Information
Specification
Imperial Germany - Principality of Reuss (Gera
- Greiz): Silver Medal of Merit with Swords of
the Princely Reuss Cross of Honor.
In its rare box of issue.
The Princely Reuss Cross of Honor was
instituted in 1869 by Prince Heinrich XIV of
Reuss while the swords (for military awards)
were added in 1909.
The War Time ribbon (as on this example)
was introduced in 1915.
The medal was awarded to Non Commisioned
Officers and other ranks for Military Merit and
at least 12 years of service.
The medal is quite rare as the total population
of Reuss (Gera - Greiz) during the WW1 was
below 250.000 inhabitants.
