Specification
Imperial Germany - Lippe Detmold: WW1 War Medal 
of Honor - 1915.  
With its scarce envelope of issue, on ribbon for 
Meritorious Service in the Homeland.
On the reverse: "Loyalty Proven in Difficult Times 
- 1915"
Established by Prince Leopold IV, in 1915, to reward 
men and women who have shown distinction at the 
rear line or at the front, had positive effect on the 
general welfare, or have shown distinction in 
providing care for war-wounded. 
The medal was awarded for Merit in the Homeland 
(with ribbon as of this example) and for Merit in 
Enemy Territory (or in the Face of the Enemy), 
on  ribbon with the yellow and white colors in 
switched position.
It was struck by C.F. Zimmermann in Pforzheim 
and was discontinued in 1921.
Only 1700 medals were issued in total (459 for 
merit in the Face of the Enemy and 1249 for Merit 
in the Homeland.
A scarce decoration.
