Imperial Germany - Saxony - Saxe Meiningen: 
Large bar of 3 WW1 military medals. From left 
to right:
- Saxony, Friedrich August Medal for Merit, 
Silver Class, on war time ribbon.
The medal was instituted in 1905. 
It was awarded to military personnel below the 
rank of Staff Sergeant and to civil personnel of 
similar rank for meritorious service in war and 
peace time. 
It was discontinued in 1918.
A total of 90400 medals were awarded.
- Saxe-Meiningen, Medal of War Merit (1915), on 
ribbon for Combatants. In zinc alloy (war metal).
Instituted in 1915 by Duke Bernard III, the medal
was awarded to NCOs and other ranks for merit 
in front of the enemy. 
A very rare medal as only 24.000 in total were 
awarded.
- Saxony: Gold (gilt) Long Service Medal, 
I class.
The medal was instituted in 1878 and was 
awarded to NCOs after the completion of 
21 years of service.
