Specification
FRANCE: Silver Commemorative medal of the
Morocco Campaign (1908) with "Casablanca"
and "Haut Guir" clasps on the ribbon.
Hallmarked "1" for silver purity and signed by
George Lemaire.
The medal was instituted in 1909 and was
awarded to military and civilian personnel who
participated in the "pacification" campaign of
Morocco (1907 - 1909).
The "Casablanca" clasp was issued to Navy
personnel for service, between 5 Aug. 1907
and 15 Jun. 1909, in Morocco, or on board a
vessel of the Naval Forces detached to
Morocco or charged with a mission in
Moroccan waters.
The "Haut Guir" clasp was awarded for
participation in the operations of the Upper
River Guir (from Teniet el Sassi to Duveyrier,
to the Northern limits of the Saharan regions
and to the East of Forthassa Gharbia), as well
as to those with garrison duties at Boudenib
or Bouanane in 1908 and 1909. The clasp is
rare.
