FRANCE: Commemorative Medal for the 1st 
and 2nd French Colonial Campaigns in 
Dahomey (Benin), in 1890 & 1892 respectively.
Signed by Daniel Dupuise, marked by the Paris 
Mint (cornucopia mark) and by Jean Lagrange, 
chief engraver (axe mark). 
With officer's bar on top of the ribbon.
The medal was instituted in 1892 and was 
awarded to the 4000 soldiers and sailors of the 
French Expeditionary Corps under the 
command of Colonel Dodds.
