Belgium: WW2 Commemorative Medal for the
Volunteers who joined the Belgian Royal Army
at the Recruiting Centers set up in France (May-
September 1940), following the German invasion
and the collapse of the Belgian defense.
This is the rarest example of the medal, with
swivel crown suspender, on ribbon in the national
colors of Belgium and France, inscribed "C.R.A.B.
– R.C.B.L." (the initials for Recruiting Centers of
the Belgian Army, in both French and Flemish).
Just like the other versions of the medal it had
been only awarded to the surviving veterans (and
not posthumously).
