Belgium: WW2 Commemorative Medal of the City 
of Ghent (Gent/Gand) for its citizens who joined 
the Resistance and fought against the Nazis 
during the German Occupation of Belgium.
Dated 1940- 1945
The medal was established in 1945.
Inscribed in latin: "Gandavum" (Ghent) and 
"Cives Magnae Virtutis Colit" (Distinguishes 
Citizens of Great Virtue):
Designed and signed by Rette.
A full size example of the medal awarded to Roger 
Leon Francois is in the collection of the US 
Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington D.C.
A genuine example of one of the rarest and most 
heavily copied WW2 medals.
