Belgium: WW1 King Albert Medal of National 
Recognition.
Signed by G. Devreese. On ribbon with single 
stripe for charity and humanitarian services 
(the medal was also awarded on ribbon with 
2 stripes for food distribution in the occupied 
territories).
On the obverse: Albert Roi des Belges (Albert, 
King of the Belgians)
On the reverse: En Temoinanage de 
Reconnaissance Nationale (in Expression of 
the National Recognition)
Dated 1914 - 1918
The medal was instituted in 1919 and was 
awarded to Belgian and foreign citizens for 
outstanding humanitarian services to the 
civilian population of Belgium during the 
Great War and the occupation of the country 
by the Germans. 
This is the version of the medal in French 
language.
A rare Belgian award.
