BELGIUM: Commemorative medal for the 50th 
Anniversary of the WW1 Armistice in 1918. 
The medal was instituted in 1968 by King 
Baudouin.
On the obverse the portraits of King Albert (King 
of Belgium during WW1) and King Baudouin 
(King of Belgium in 1968).
On the reverse: A soldier's tomb below the years 
1918 - 1968 and the word "Armistice" in French 
and Flemish.
The signing of the WW1 armistice which took 
place, on 11 Nov. 1918, in the railway carriage 
(carriage N. 24190) of Marshal Foch at the Forest 
of Compiègne, about 37 miles (60 km) North of 
Paris. 
Note that in WW2, Hitler demanded that the 
capitulation of France, in 1940, to be signed in 
the same carriage at the same place. 
A rarely seen commemorative medal.
