Austro-Hungarian Army during WW1 and by Nazi
Germany in WW2.
The howitzer was able to penetrate 2m (6ft 7in) of
reinforced concrete with its special armor-
piercing shell.
Eight such howitzers that were "loaned" to the
German Army, were used together with the
Krupp 42cm howitzer ("Big Bertha") to destroy
the Belgian fortresses around Liege, Namur and
Antwerp in the early stages of WW1.
A total of 23 M11 howitzers saw action with the
German Army during WW2 against Poland,
France and the Soviet Union.
