Product Information
Specification
Austro-Hungarian Empire: WW1 Patriotic Cap
Badge for the Joint Operations of the Austro-
Hungarian and German Armies.
Inscribed "Viribus Unitis" (Power in Unity) and
dated 1914-15.
The cap badge presents 2 soldiers (1 KuK and
1 German) shaking hands over a shield with the
combined national colors of Austria-Hungary
and Germany.
The whole presentation constitutes an indirect
reference to the co-operation with the German
South Army during the operations in the
Carpathians in 1914 - 1915.
The German South Army was formed in Breslau,
on Jan. 1915 and served exclusively on the
Eastern Front.
It was placed initially under the command of
Infantry General von Linsingen and since Jul.
1915 of Infantry General Graf von Bothmer.
During 1915 the German South Army operated
closely with the 2nd and 3rd KuK Armies in
both offensive and defensive operations on
the Carpathians against the Russian Army.
