Afghanistan: Royal Officer's Star of Honor for
the Campaign to suppress the Northern
Rebellion of Habibullah Kalakani (Bacha-i-
Saqao).
The medal was established by Mohammed
Nadir Khan to be awarded to officers of the
Afghan National Army who were involved in
the defeat of Habibullah Kalakani. Habibullah
Kalakani became briefly King (Khan) of
Afghanistan (Reign: 17 Jan. 1929 – 16 Oct.
1929) following the Rebellion and the Civil War
that was triggered by the modernizing reforms
of Amanullah Khan (1919-1929), who was
forced to abdicate.
After 9 months in power, Habibullah Kalakani
was overthrown and executed by General
Mohammed Nadir Shah, a cousin of the former
King Amanullah Khan.
